SLAAM Woodson P24 Outruns Mac Irvin Fire
Coming off a big win over Lady Push adidas 33SB, Mac Irvin Thompson would go on to face undefeated SLAAM Woodson P24 in the 2026 Aqua Division championship game.
SLAAM started the game off hot, led by lead guard Coral Prosser and Juliet Leroux out on the wing. SLAAM stifled Mac Irvin from the jump with great team defense and strong rebounding. They turned defense into transition offense and got off to a 17-9 lead.
The game went back forth late in the half with each team trading baskets. Coach Deryn Carter used a timeout to stop the run and Mac Irvin went on a 9-2 run to tie the game at the half.
Chellise Jones gave Mac Irvin their first lead early in the 2nd half, but it would be short lived as SLAAM would go on a big run and find some separation.
The point differential would continue to increase due to strong defense inside by SLAAM’s Oumou Thiero and Coral Prosser‘s terrific perimeter playmaking. Mikaia Litza would step up big and help get Mac Irvin back in the game, closing it to a one possession game with a minute left.
Ultimately it would be too late. Timely free throws by Prosser and a fast break layup by Juliette Leroux would be the dagger for Mac Irvin’s hopes of a comeback.
Leroux led SLAAM with 16 points en route to a 57-49 win. Prosser added 13 points and Thiero chipped in 12 for the 2024 Aqua Division 16U Platinum champions.
Mac Irvin was led by Chellise Jones with 18 points, and Mikaia Litza’s 14.
